Thumbnails
I like to start my illustration process off with making around 12 thumbnails. These thumbnails are sketchy and rough and they are just to get any ideas that I have down. Then I (or my client) choose one to go ahead with. After this I move on to black and white compositions.
Black and White Comps
During my process I like to make at least 3 black and white compositions to play around with values and lighting. I do this after I (or my client) has chosen a thumbnail. I also have added any critiques or suggestions that I was given during the thumbnail process. After this I move on to color compositions.
Color Comps
During my process I like to make at least 3 color compositions. I do this to see multiple different color combinations and see which one works the best. I do this after my black and white compositions. At this point I have added any critiques or suggestions that I was given at the black and white stage. After this I move on to the final illustration.
